“Floyd the Ford’ as we like to call it was a labor of love. I couldn’t find that perfect family van that was easy to drive, safe, and of course comfortable for our family of four so I decided to build it myself.I’m 6 foot 1 inch tall and I wanted a bed that could fit my wife and I comfortably, plus an area where our children could sleep so we could make those long lasting memories.Up top, we have a 72 wide x 68 long mattress, down below we have a 48 wide x 72 long mattress and we also have a platform for the bench seat for those that are willing to work through additional set up that that can fit a child comfortably. So plenty of options depending on your family makeup. Doors, walls and ceilings are fully insulated with 3m Thinsulate. Floors are also insulated. All walls and floor are built with high quality Baltic birch, delivering mild temperatures and a quiet van.We added Maxx air fan ventilation and a propane powered water heater for warm outdoor showers. The van also comes with hanging bag storage to keep the space clean and organized.Floyd has a 10ft Fiama awning for a shaded outdoor experience. Two 100w roof mounted solar panels keep 200 amps of lithium ion batteries fully powering a Dometic dual zone refrigerator, interior lights and plenty of USB charging ports. Additionally, a 1000w inverter gives you the ability to charge your computer, power a coffee machine or even a TV.The Ford Eco Boost engine is a dream to drive with tons of power to get you up and over those mountain passes. It’s also very easy to park in a standard sized parking spot utilizing the rear camera.Touch screen radio is Apple & Android auto ready with Bluetooth or USB connection.Other amenities include:-Maxx air fan with in and out air option

Driving Floyd on reasonably appropriate dirt, gravel, and other back roads is allowed provided it is not private property and there are no prohibitive access notices including, but not limited to, No Trespassing signs.The vehicle is not intended to be used for "rock-crawling" or in designated or undesignated off-road areas (such as SVRAs) and on closed roads (excluding country and state maintained roads), as such the use of our vehicles in these applications and settings is strictly off limits. Floyd is explicitly prohibited from being used for any technical, high speed or rough terrain applications. Any renter found to be using the vehicles for the above listed use cases will automatically lose their deposit to compensate for excess vehicle wear and tear.The vehicle is prohibited from being used for any rescue situations, towing of other vehicles or use in any way other than basic driving on easily passable dirt trails or public highways. If there is an accident or breakdown on the back roads, we reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to deem whether the roads were reasonably appropriate or not. If we deems the roads not reasonably appropriate then the insurance is void. Towing charges and any additional expenses resulting from breakdown or accident will be be the Driver’s responsibility. When Drivers are assessing roads they should remember that vehicle damage can occur from branches, logs and other protrusions into the roadway and all repair costs are the burden of the Driver. The consumption of alcohol or intoxicants while operating any vehicle is prohibited. As is climbing on the roof or hood of the vehicles. Taking the Vehicles to music festivals is prohibited.No vaping or smoking in the vehiclePlease return the van with a full tank of regular gas, if not, renter will be deducted $150 from the security deposit.Renter is responsible for any damaged or lost equipment.

Our experience with this van was excellent from start to finish. Larry communicated very well and instructed us on all of the van’s equipment before we took off for our trip. The van feels brand new- very clean, safe and comfortable. Thoughtful details throughout , including dimmable reading lights above beds, storage compartments & solar charged outlets where you need them. Lots of storage in the van and in the roof box. The fridge/freezer was a game changer for us ex-tent campers! My husband and I slept on the top bunk; the kids slept on the bottom . There is an amazing breeze at night from the ceiling fan/windows; it wasn’t stuffy at all. Hope to rent Floyd the Ford again in the future!
