The Front Ranger is an adventurous Volkswagen Weekender that flies around the West like a silver bullet. You'll be yelling "Hi-Yo, Silver! Away!" as you cruise over Rocky Mountain passes thanks to the 201 horsepower in-line six cylinder engine. RV drivers will marvel at your economical 16-20 miles/gallon.Come explore the Rocky Mountains at the base of the Flatirons! We are located an hour from Rocky Mountain National Park, Indian Peaks Wilderness, and Brainard Lake. Take a weekend mountain biking trip to Moab or Fruita; a Fall leaves trip to Kenosha Pass; a ski trip to Vail, Breckenridge, or Steamboat; tailgate in comfort at a CU Buffaloes game; a hiking trip to any one of Colorado's 50+ 14ers; a road trip to one of Colorado's music festivals; a river trip to Royal Gorge or the mighty Colorado! The Eurovan Weekender is a great van option for any family who needs up to five seatbelts and sleeping room for four, the couple who would like a queen size bed and comfortable indoor space, or the large crew that needs to carry bikes and extra gear. The Weekender has windows around the whole van for viewing the beautiful scenery and built in sliding curtains with snaps for privacy. We have an optional kit for an outdoor kitchen that can be stowed in the back and sets up simply to cook a delicious meal under Rocky Mountain blue skies. When you're not enjoying the indoor table, the rear bench seat folds down into a queen size bed topped with memory foam. Little ones and those who want a little alone time enjoy the fort-like atmosphere of the canvas pop-top with zippered mesh windows. With each booking we provide you with headlamps, a lantern, power adapters (you bring the cord), up to four camp chairs, and lots of optional add-ons: a kitchen set including a two burner gas stove, one can of propane, dish soap, hand sanitizer, a lighter, a coffee filter, two insulated travel mugs, a box full of kitchen ware (pots, pan, spatula, cutting board, knife, tongs, a seven gallon water jug, roll top table, and a set of four cups, bowls, plates and flatware). Other optional equipment includes: clean linens, a queen comforter, and two sleeping bags for the poptop, a four bike hitch mounted rack, furnace that runs off the gas tank (solar panel required), roof top carrier, shade shelter, hammock, and a refrigerator that runs off the solar panel/auxiliary battery. If you have specific gear needs send me a message and we'll see if we have something you want to try like our inflatable kayak, packraft, life jacket, fishing pole, tenkara fly rod, mountain bikes, road bikes, BOB stroller, bike trailer, car seat, backpacking equipment, or a roll top camping table. The pick up location is conveniently located in south Boulder in a safe neighborhood with ample street parking. We have a two car enclosed driveway for staging your trip next to our garden. We are located right on the RTD public transportation line to Denver and Denver International (DIA) airport. It is easy and relatively inexpensive to take the bus from downtown Boulder, Longmont, Denver or Fort Collins to within a block and a half of our house. In the winter and cooler months you can skip the hotel and add on the Webasto furnace and thermostat for staying warm along with thermal window covers, Thinsulate insulation behind the door panels, and Reflectix insulation around the pop top! We also put snow tires on the van along with steel rims from November-April to keep you safe on your skiing adventures chasing powder.Outdoorsy's roadside assistance is optional if you already have AAA or another roadside assistance program with long distance towing. Extra cost for one-way rentals quoted upon request.FAQs-How much do the "paid upon return" add ons cost?
--Denver Airport Delivery-$150
--Four pillows, two fitted sheets, two flat sheets, one comforter, and two sleeping bags-$35 (if you don't select this add on you will need to provide your own sheets, pillows, and sleeping bags)
--Cooking Setup-$40
--Cleaning fee-$50 if the van is returned without a carwash/vacuum, $25 if you wash/vacuum.
--Two person Hammock-$10
-Can I cancel after booking?
--Yes, but you will not get a full refund. Cancellations prevent us from renting our the van to other campers. In the event of a cancelled booking you will still have to pay the reservation deposit (25% of full trip cost) to Outdoorsy. The rest of the refund depends on when the cancellation occurs. If the renter has paid in full and the booking is canceled more than seven days prior to booking start date, a partial refund of 75 percent of the full rental amount (minus Outdoorsy's fees) is issued. If canceled less than seven days prior to booking start date, a partial refund of 50% of the total rental amount (minus Outdoorsy's fees) is issued. You can also change dates if we are all in agreement.
Can you deliver the van to me?
--Yes, I can deliver the van to the airport for $110 and park it in the West Economy Lot with a lockbox attached. You will pick it up there and pay the parking fee on your way out ($4-16) and I will pay the parking feee when I pick the van up. I can also deliver the van somewhere else in the Front Range for a fee if there is a bus that can get me back to Boulder and my schedule allows it. Please contact me first about delivery.
-How far can I go?
--As far as you want! We include 85 miles/night with each booking. You will pay a fee of 40 cents/mile in excess of the allowance. People have taken our van as far as North Dakota and Yellowstone. We've taken the van on road trips longer than a month that circled through ten states! If you plan to drive the van more than 3000 miles you will be responsible for an oil change.
-How do you sleep four in there?
--The lower level has a bench seat that folds down into a queen bed and the top pops up with a full bed.
-Do you supply everything?
--We can! Choose the add ons you need and you could arrive with your clothes and a toothbrush for some turnkey camping. If you have your own gear, save some money, bring your own pillows, sleeping bags, cooking setup, cooler, and don't select any add ons.
-How does the furnace add-on work?
--The heater burns gas from the fuel tank and a fan runs off the auxiliary battery to push the heat into the van through a vent behind the passenger seat. No need to turn the engine on! All the combustion is done outside the van so make sure the exhaust pipe isn't pushing hot air into dry grass or needles. We do provide a smoke alarm/carbon monoxide detector for your safety. The furnace will run as long as the fan has electricity and the gas tank has more than a quarter tank. The furnace burns approximately 1 gallon of gas for every 24 hours of continuous use--amazing! The cabin of the van generally stays about 10-15 degrees warmer than the pop-top. We provide thermal window covers if you choose this add on.
-How do I charge the auxiliary battery?
--The house battery is a 65 amp-hour sealed lead acid battery that is charged by the engine when it is running or from the optional solar panel. The solar panel has a five amp charging capability so it can top off the battery with direct sun on a typical summer's day.
-A fridge--how does that work?
--The fridge is an amazing optional camping luxury add on that can run off the auxiliary battery. It has a 46 liter (72 can) capacity and can be set to any temperature you want all the way down to a deep freeze of negative seven degrees F! Unless you are driving a few hours a day we recommend adding the solar panel on if you want to take advantage of the fridge.
-Who pays for damages?
--Renters are insured through Outdoorsy, please contact them with specific questions about coverage. Outdoorsy will only insure renters age 25 and older. You can add on their road side assistance for an additional fee if you don't have your own AAA membership. Each booking requires a $500 deposit and renters are responsible for mileage overages, cleaning fees, damage to the pop top canvas, scrapes, scratches, windshield dings, and anything else that negatively impacts the van or accoutrements during your trip. We are happy to take before and after pictures.
-Can I bring my dog?
--Unfortunately we have some allergies in our family and pets are not allowed. If we find pet hair inside the van you will be charged a $250 fee for steam cleaning and hair/dander removal.
-I have more questions, who do I contact?
--Contact Outdoorsy with general questions about rentals, policies, etc. Feel free to send me a message with specific questions about our van or your trip! I am also happy to chat on the phone as well:
