About Tim Klein

Hello fellow RVer! If you haven't RV'ed yet, be prepared for some fun. We used to tent camp, and still do when we go backpacking. But, as we added a dog and eventually our second child, we decided that we needed to upgrade so that we could transport more of our toys, gear, and supplies (food! - no more lugging around a cooler!). We were tired of being wet and miserable when it rained, and we wanted a way to eventually snowbird, which is what we did starting in the 2012 timeframe. I (husband) would drive the family south to Florida (Orlando/Melbourne), spend some time with the family, fly back and work for a week or 2 or 3, then fly back down to complete the round-trip. I might do this 2 times over the January-February timeframe. This allowed me to stay employed and not chew through all of my vacation time, as well as stay in touch with my family while my wife and kids enjoyed the Florida weather and beaches for the coldest/snowiest Michigan months. We've not only been to Florida every winter since 2008 (tent camped 2008 & 2009 - ouch!), but we have also been as far north as Banff National Park (Canada) and the Jasper Glacier, as far West as Death Vally National Park, and as far east as New York City (West Point, actually) with our RV. My wife has hit all 50 states, and I'm at 48, while our children are at 46 (they're missing Hawaii!). We're presently upgrading our RV experiance because our children (9 & 11 as of June 2019) are getting to the point where they need their own permanent bunk areas. I'm an Electrical Engineer, working controls and mechanical systems, so I've retro-fitted the Dutchman Express 28A with some upgrades along the way to make our lives easier - I hope you can enjoy/appreciate them as much as we have. See you on the road or at a campground!
