Memories made on trips with Andrew Roach's RVs

We had a great experience renting from Andrew and Outdoorsy. He was very professional and informative. He went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable with all the features of the RV. He even reached out to us during the trip to make sure we were doing well. I felt like I could call him anytime if there was problem. However, there never was an issue which was great.

So this was our very first RV experience and there was most certainly lots of learning. Things that worked out with the rental were 1) space, the space especially expanded was really impressive. we fit a family of 9 including 3 two year olds for our trip to the beach. 2) ease of driving. Neither of us had a lot of experience driving big vehicles but the RV was surprisingly easy and comfy to drive making a long trip with small children much easier. 3) the ability to store food and cook was great I was able to make meals for my family which was great including both the stove and oven. 4) a place of respite while camping. The beach was sunny and very hot. The RV was a great escape and the air conditioning worked great (assuming the generator was on). Ok so the learning curve details 1) the RV does not run the AC without the generator in even while driving. We didn’t know this which means the 5 hours a day you get is not very much so plan on paying for generator time. Also the water pump only works off the generator so again unless the generator is on you don’t have running water including while your driving. The RV battery will not run the water or AC in the unit. It will run AC in the drivers cabin only. 2) Dumping black and gray water. We thought we would drive home from the beach clean the RV then take it to an RV park to dump. We didn’t stay in an RV park we camped in the beach the whole time. BIG mistake. Apparently when you drive around with a tank that has black matter right sewage in it it sticks up the entire trailer. The smell was so bad while we were driving we had to pull off and find an RV park costing us almost an hour coming home. So so so gross. Ok now the things I felt we should have had based off the amount of this rental that weren’t provided. 1) better communication. It would often take days after I would message the owner to get a response which was really frustrating especially for a first time RV renter. 2) the beds were not made up so I had to scramble at the last minute In addition to all the other trip prep I was doing to find sheets for all the beds and also make all the beds. The owner said that was the policy because if Covid and yet he did not wear a mask when he met us so I feel like it was more of a copout because he didn’t want to do the extra work. 3) the rental was dirtier than I would have liked. It had obviously sat for a while and was not professionally cleaned before we received it because their was food on the inside of the door of the microwave and dust on all the wood furniture and fixtures. Despite the fact we went to the beach with 7 children I left the RV in much better cleanliness condition then we received it. 4) 2 of the main living area windows didn’t work not allowing us to get a good cross breeze forcing us to use the AC and generator every night. 1 of the windows was so broken that it almost flew off and the owner did not have it fastened down properly so 10 minutes into our trip we had to pull over rummage for something to keep it down and tape it down before getting back in the road. Really ghetto. 5) the RV was not filled with gas. It was about 5/8 full and the owner said he was to tired the night before to fill it up. I’m sorry but at $300/day I expected a full tank of gas. 6) the water tank wasn’t full and he asked us if he could use our hose to fill it. Then there was a leak from the outdoor shower because it was slightly on and he Obviously did not do a thorough once over So by the time we got to the beach all 100gallons of water were gone leaving us without running water or hot showers. We had to manually siphon a few gallons in with water bottles so we could at least flush the toilet. Part of springing for the more expensive RV was so that we could have a hot shower and wash the kids properly but we couldn’t do that forcing us to use the cold outdoor public beach showers. Really really frustrating and disappointing. 7) the gage in the generator for fuel was off. When it said we had half a tank still which should have given us 2 more days the generator ended up shutting off at 4am That night and all our kids woke up and I had to bike to puck up more gas in the middle of the night. It was awful. 8) lastly the owner was so unbelievably sexist. I honestly almost lost it during our walk through when he arrived. He never used my name only my husbands even though I made the reservation and I was listed as a driver before my husband was. He said upon arrival “I’m assuming your husband will be handling all the technical details should I speak directly to him then?” I was floored and despite my efforts to constantly correct him throughout the tour he kept saying things like “I’ll refer to you only Charles for this next part”, and “please make room for Charles so he can see what I need to show him”. I mean really?! Into 2020 dude and I’m a multi degree holding working extremely intelligent mother of 7. It was u professional and inappropriate to be marginalized so obviously. Even my husband was floored at how bad it was. I will say this however the owners were very patient and helpful when Outdoorsy had a glitch in their automated driver verification process denying us insurance and the rental right off the bat. They helped us connect with outdoorsy who kept us on hold for over 12 hours...yup 11 hours and was willing to work with us to secure the rental. For that we were truly great full. Also 4 years ago we attempted to rent this same RV but after my father died suddenly they gave us a full refund no questions asked and I was very impressed by their compassion. All
In all I will not be renting any RV again. It was far to much work for me as a mom of a large family but I’m sure it’s the right fit for some.

I cannot honestly say thanks for the review, as these comments are quite disturbing. Therefore, I will address future potential renters.

PERFECT FAMILY VACATION RV is just what the name says...Perfect and so are the owners. They go above and beyond to make sure your plans go off without a hitch and they are available for any questions you have. The service the owners provide is extraordinary. The RV is so comfortable and clean that you end up not wanting to leave the RV. I wish I could give 6 stars but 5 is the most the site allows. I would rent from them again.
