About Minh Dang

My greatest joy is making memories with my wife Tracey and our daughter Dan-Thy (7) and son Duc-Tin(6). We love road trips, the outdoors and going on adventures. Our cross country trip in 2020 from Portland to Atlanta and Tampa encouraged us to buy our first ever RV. Our kids did everything they could to buy the RV including selling hot cocoa to our neighbors & friends, winning bingo games, and using all their savings. We love our Chateau and hope you will enjoy it as much as we do. I will be excited to share with you anything on RVing, buying an RV, and our RV journey.

Minh did a fantastic job as an RV host! He was helpful throughout the entire process, courteous, understanding, and a pleasure to rent from. His Chateau was great and had no problems whatsoever. Our trip was amazing and I hope I get the chance to rent from him again!

My experience in this RV and with the owner was extremely disappointing. The owner was not present when I picked up the RV, so I received no instruction in how the RV operated--nothing about the very confusing electrical system, nothing about how to empty the RV's black-and graywater tanks, nothing about the fact that the RV's heater did not work, or that the ladder used to climb up onto the bunk over the cab was broken and unuseable. Just nothing. A friend of the owner was there and handed me the keys and that was it. The first night we were so lost, we couldn't find the lights in the darkness, we plugged into the power at the campsite, but no power came on. It was sweltering inside the RV but the air conditioner would not come on, nor could we get our CPAP machines to work. We spent at least an hour on the phone with the owner trying to figure out why the power would not come on. Meanwhile we were dripping with sweat and were extremely frustrated. We came very close to giving up and going to a hotel for the night. Finally, after midnight we got the power working and the air conditioner and CPAP machines on. We filled the sink with cold water and ice and took an ice bath to cool off so we could get into bed and sleep. We discovered the beds both had thin mattresses and were uncomfortable. I am a side sleeper and I developed pain in my hips and shoulders from sleeping on a too-thin mattress. I called my husband to bring me my supper fluffy sleeping bag to put under my bottom sheet to make the bed more comfortable while my sister had to buy a 1.5 inch memory foam mattress topper at a nearby Walmart to make her over-the-cab bed comfortable enough to sleep on. On our second day we had planned to drive up the Columbia Gorge and see Multnomah Falls but we were so exhausted from the little sleep we got the night before that we drove straight to our new campground and napped all afternoon. That night when we tried to cook our supper, a vegetable pasta dish, we discoverd the RV's kitchen was inadequately stocked with even the basics for cooking. There were no measuring cups or measuring spoons, no vegetable peeler, the knives were horribly dull and almost useless, there were no microwaveable dishes or containers to use in the RV's microwave, the only utensils to eat with were tiny flimsy plastic forks and spoons, and there were only metal cooking utensils to use with the non-stick cookware. The next day we bought two large microwaveable bowls and a flatware set at Walmart so we could cook and eat. We noticed the RV was not clean when we got it, even though I was charged for an extra Covid cleaning, which obviously was not done by the owner. There were crumbs on the countertop, dirt on the RV's toilet, a clump of long black hairs in the shower and the RV's floors were so dirty that walking barefoot on them turned our feet black. It was obvious that no one had cleaned the RV prior to our getting it. Although I did not pay the extra fee for bedding and we brought our own, there were sheets and comforters on both beds. Since we knew the RV had not been cleaned prior to our getting it, we did not trust that the sheets and bedding had been cleaned either, so we removed the bedding that was there and used our own that we had brought. The second morning we had the RV, we woke up to discover that the RV's 12 volt batteries were dead and we could not retract the awning. After numerous attempts to retract the awning so we could leave our campsite to travel to our new campground, we finally called the owner to help us figure out what to do. We had already started up the RV's vehicle engine to help charge the batteries from the vehicle's alternator, but the awning would still not retract. Finally after running the RV's engine for quite a while, the 12 volt batteries were fully charged and we could retract the awning and leave our campsite. However, when we tried to retract the awning, it would not retract all the way. There was not obstruction--the awning just would not fully retract. We tried to manually push the awning in all the way but it wouldn't stay fully retracted. Also the refrigerator started beeping even though the 12 volt batteries were fully charged. So, we had to contact the owner again to ask how to turn off the refrigerator's beeping noise. With that finally accomplished we were ready to leave but we had wasted over an hour trying to get the awning to retract. The next morning we woke up and it was 45 degrees and cold in the RV. We found the thermostat for the heater and turned it all the way to max heat. Nothing happened. We waited for 45 minutes and no heat came out of the heating vent. So we had to contact the owner again to find out why there was not heat. He told us to put the thermostat all the way on max heat, which we had already done, and to wait a while for the heat to come on, which we had already done. Finally he said if that failed there was a portable electric space heater in a drawer under the dinette, which we found and turned on. So another hour of our vacation was wasted trying to make the RV work the way is was supposed to. When it came time to empty the black- and graywater tanks we had another fiasco. Since the owner did not show us how to do this process, we had to wing it by ourselves. Another camper asked us why we didn't use an elbow on the end of the sewer hose. What elbow, we asked. Later we found an elbow in the storage compartment of the RV along with gloves, and we decided to use that next time when we dumped the tanks. We couldn't find a white or blue potable water hose anywhere in the RV, so we had to contact the owner again. He told us which hose to use, which was a fabric hose rather than a plastic one. When we hooked up that hose to the campground's water spigot, we discovered that the RV hose leaked water. We contacted the owner again and he told us to use the black fabric hose for the outdoor shower, even though I was pretty sure this hose was not approved for use with potable water, but we had no other alternative. Later in our trip we again had difficulty with the electric system. We had arrived at our new campground and plugged into the power there, but we could not get the air conditioner or the CPAP machines to work again. The owner kept telling us to reset the GFCI outlet in the bathroom, but repeated attempts to get the reset button to stay depressed were not working. We checked everything on the power cord, the surge protector, the switch on the shore power post, all to no avail. Finally the owner told us to check the breaker panel to see if any of the breakers had been tripped. Two of them had and when we flipped them back on we were able to reset the GFCI switch and the air conditioner came on and our CPAP machines could turn on. Unfortunately at least another hour of our vacation time had been wasted struggling to make the RV work right, leaving us inadequate time to get up to the Columbia Gorge to catch the trolley to the waterfalls that we had planned to see. Again, all these difficulties could have been prevented if the owner had fulfilled his obligations to make sure we knew how to operate everything in the RV before we left for our trip. I had paid my money in full, I completed all the necessary paperwork to rent the RV and I even watched the video link the owner sent me that explained some, but not all, parts of the RV before our trip. I fulfilled all my obligations but the owner did not fulfill his. He left us without any operating instructions for how to do the necessary things in the RV. He also left us with a dirty RV and an RV that was in poor repair. The drawer latches on the kitchen drawers were inadequate or non-existent and so the drawers continually flew open when we drove. The awning was torn on the outside and inside edge which caused the awning not to fully retract. While we were driving, the awning tried to open itself from the wind catching the awning material. Since we could not get the awning to fully retract, there was little we could do to prevent that. I called Outdoorsy three different times during our trip, but all they told me was that I first had to return the RV to the owner before they could do anything. I sent two text messages to the owner telling him I wanted a partial refund because he did not fulfill his obligations under the rental agreement and his negligence created many difficulties for us and frankly, spoiled our entire vacation. Outdoorsy said they would pursue a dispute with the owner if he did not agree to my request for a partial refund. I specifically requested a 50% refund as our vacation was ruined. Today I received an email from Ryan at Outdoorsy stating that the owner has denied my request for a refund and that my case has been referred to Outdoorsy's Resolution panel. I also will initiate a dispute with my credit card company regarding the rental fees I paid to rent the RV. I must say, I will never rent from this owner again and will never consider renting from Outdoorsy again in the future. I am a very dissatisfied customer.

Minh was Fantastic. This was my first experience in ever driving an RV; he made me feel very comfortable and answered all of my questions.
The RV was very clean, comfortable, and very easy to drive. I would highly recommend Minh and his RV if you need a smaller sized RV or if this is your first RV experience.
The communication was fantastic and he made me feel at ease with the entire process.
Thank you, Minh!!!!

Thank you Paul for your optimism and awesome attitude!! You are my first renter, and I was very nervous even though I try not to show it. :) When you show up with your son and your brother to pick up the RV, I feel assured right away. And through the whole process you were amazing!! I love your positive attitude and learned a lot from you and your family. You never complain at all, and thank you for leaving a treat for my kids. That is very thoughtful of you and your family. It was an honor for us to meet you and learn from you.
