At first I thought everything was going well...
Beware! First with going through 3rd party Outdoorsy, be careful they add on additional fees at time of checkout which dramatically raises the cost of your rental. Also the "free" insurance is a complete scam, a $1500 deductible! For American Recreation the orientation of how to set up the camper was thorough but be sure to annotate any, I mean any damage or anything you feel is not functioning properly. For example, during the walk thru the sliding window would catch and you would have to slide it just right to open or close it. During my trip the one and only time we go to open it; it catches just right and shatters. I made a claim thru the pointless insurance and of course it didn't exceed the $1500 deductible. Either way I knew I was going to bite the cost, thinking my $500 would possibly cover most of it. I received a quote from American Recreation that was over $1100 to replace and install a new window. The smallest window on the whole camper cost almost as much as I paid to rent it in the first place. I did a search by part number from the quote provided and found the same window and parts for almost half the price that was quoted. Along with the quote they tacked on some additional fees admin fee of $125 and another $125 fee for the repair guys to come to their location. I feel the whole situation was a complete scam and was taken advantage of the price gouging that occurred. I wouldn't recommend renting thru Outdoorsy or from American Recreation to my worst enemy.

Kayla broke a window. When she found out how expensive it is to replace it, she fabricated the story of the window having prior issues in an attempt to get out of having to pay. RV windows are made of strong tempered glass, like a car, and they don't just shatter by being slammed shut, just like your car window doesn't shatter when the door gets slammed. She claims to have found the replacement parts cheaper, but has yet to provide us information to forward to the RV repair company as to who has the parts available for less. Yes, there an administration fee, which is standard practice. Yes, the RV repair company charges a fee for them to come to our location. The fee is cheaper than what it would cost us to pay for transportation to the RV repair company's facility. This saved Kayla money. The RV will be sitting for 6 weeks while we wait for the window to arrive from the factory. We will lose thousands of dollars while it's not able to be rented. We are horrible at scamming if this is a scam!

Everything went smoothly on our 1-week RV tour of Michigan with the Ameri-Lite 199DD from American Recreation. Arrived at 2:45pm for check-in on 6/27 and the orientation was thorough and straightforward. We rented a ball hitch and an electric brake controller from them as well, which worked well (the controller was built-in to the trailer and worked with our Kia Telluride without a problem and didn't require any installation whatsoever which was nice!). Only snafu was a rookie mistake: when we arrived at 11pm to our first RV park, we struggled to decouple the trailer from the hitch (asked a guy who had a trailer and in three seconds he knew that we needed to lift AND slide the release lever, whereas we were steadfastly stuck on just trying to lift it lol). All features of the trailer were in good working order. The sewer drain pipe that was tucked into the back bumper was broken from a previous rental, making it a tiny issue of draining the black and grey tanks but it really wasn't a major issue. I mentioned this upon return of the trailer and he was apologetic for missing that on inspection from the previous rental. All in all, I'd definitely recommend this place for good units and high professionalism. Thanks for a great trip!

Very difficult to get ahold of, no customer service skills, gave conflicting information, used “unreasonable” amount of dirtiness as example of how little they actually do them selves. will NOT rent from them again, and we rent quite a bit.

Morgan rented a trailer for Hippiefest in Trufant, MI. Morgan had a 3:00 PM appointment to pick up her trailer. Morgan showed up at 9:00 AM and was mad she couldn't have it. Morgan then returned the trailer extremely late, preventing the next renter from leaving for their vacation that day. She wouldn't return our calls until she was made aware that we had to report the trailer to the police as an unreturned (stolen) rental vehicle. Morgan then returned the trailer completely trashed, top to bottom, front to back. Morgan brought unauthorized pets with her. Morgan was also careless with the trailer, causing around $2,300.00 in damages. Morgan doesn't deny she caused the damage or brought unauthorized pets. She admitted it in writing (via email). She, not us, had an insurance policy that had a max payout of $1,500.00. They agreed she caused the damage also. She is responsible for the remainder and still hasn't paid. Oddly enough, however, she did request to rent from us again. Photo, video and her admission in writing are available.

We used the trailer as a hotel room so we could isolate ourselves after driving from California to Michigan to visit family. It was perfect for that purpose. The only con is that husband is 6’4” tall so shower was short. We had the trailer delivered and set up because we had never used an RV before this. Mike was patient and efficient. He is much appreciated.

Kept trying to charge my card, even though he canceled right away and then canceled, right after spending 30 minutes trying to rent.

This just simply isn't true. We don't handle payments, Outdoorsy does. It's impossible for an owner renting their Rv on Outdoorsy to charge anyone for anything, we never even see your payment information.
